More Space for More Employees and Mobility Device Lift Production
SARASOTA, Fla., Sept. 10, 2021 — Harmar Mobility is making a major move to 1500 Independence Blvd., Suite 220, Sarasota, FL 34234—just one mile away from their former Florida factory for a 60% increase in square footage. Harmar’s team has expanded over the past year from 195 to 220, which led leadership to seek a larger facility for its corporate offices and the Sarasota-based manufacturing plant, which houses 40 tons of equipment.
In addition to the extra room, the new facility provides double the conference room space, restrooms, office space, extra room for departments to expand, a spacious training room for dealers, and a photography and videography studio, along with a 44% square foot increase in factory space.
With the offices already in use, Harmar’s team continues to prepare the new factory to receive the 40 tons of equipment. The new plant called for significant upgrades to their electrical system, lighting, ventilation, and the addition of compressed air. The company is sending the equipment on the one-mile trek in stages, over a series of weekends, hoping to complete the move by early fall.
“Our employees’ happiness and comfort are extremely important to us,” said Harmar CEO Steven Dawson. “Which is the biggest reason for staying as close to our original facility as possible. Our team members are used to the commute, used to the area—we didn’t want to lose anyone because the new location is too long a drive.”
“It’s a big move for a short distance,” said Joe Ayette, Vice President of Operations. “We officially began the move in October of 2020, but it obviously was in the works well before then. So, when it finally came time to pack the offices and start the transfer, we were more than ready. Our team members have been more than willing to jump in and help.”
“Preparing the offices was the easy part,” added Steven Dawson. “We knew the factory would have far more moving pieces, just based on ensuring that our team has everything they need to be safe, first and foremost, and productive in their new environment. While it’s a hefty load, we’re ecstatic to have the full Sarasota team in the same location with ample amount of space to thrive.”
