Community Involvement

Giving back to the community gives us a great deal of joy. Our Harmar team proudly partners with Wheelchairs 4 Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with physical disabilities by providing wheelchairs, home and vehicle modifications, and other assistive equipment at no charge to the families.

Meet Our Harmar Ambassadors

Former U.S. Army non-commissioned officer and award-winning adaptive sports athlete

Twila Adams joined the Army in 1980 and served as an NCO in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, before leaving the military in 1991 due to medical reasons. In 1994, she broke her C4 and C5 vertebrae in a car accident, leaving her paralyzed from the neck down. Doctors told her she would never walk again. However, through intense therapy, she’s regained partial use of her arms and right leg. In 2002, she became an adaptive athlete and continues to travel across the country, competing in several wheelchair sports.

Marine Corps Veteran and former law enforcement officer

While in the Marine Corps, John Papai suffered from injuries to both knees leading to an above-the-knee amputation in 2005. The amputation ended his career in law enforcement, but it opened many new doors to a life John never could have imagined. He has found freedom as a “three-track”, or one-legged skier, as well as in multiple other sports. In 2022, John joined the Harmar team as a brand ambassador, where he and Harmar work together to promote a message of positivity, independence, and determination.
